Here’s a list of sites that will help you on your quest for keeping your own pigs, whether it’s information on the relevant legislation and legal requirements or suppliers to keep your pigs well fed and secure on a night then you will find something here.

DEFRA – The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs where you will find lots of information about keeping any type of livestock. Much of DEFRA has now been merged into the UK Goverment website here.

The Rural Payments Agency – The RPA in charge of things like the county parish holding (CPH) number which you need to keep animals like pigs and also the general licence for the movement of pigs which you require when you are moving pigs onto your land. Check out our guide on keeping pigs here.

The Rare Breeds Survival Trust – The leading national charity working to conserve and protect the United Kingdom’s rare native breeds of farm animals from extinction including our very own rare breed pigs.

Britain Pig Association – The Association is the official breed society and maintains the Herd Books for the following breeds: Berkshire, British Landrace, British Saddleback, Duroc, Gloucestershire Old Spots, Hampshire, Large Black, Large White, Mangalitza, Middle White, Oxford Sandy & Black, Pietrain, Tamworth and Welsh.

Farmers Guardian Farmers Guardian is a weekly national agricultural newspaper, perfect for keeping up with all the latest news across the UK agricultural sector.

Dales Water Services Ltd – Private Water Supply Specialists, ideal for smallholders who require an off mains water supply to both keep livestock and for other agricultural uses. Services include borehole drilling, pump installation, water treatment and water supply maintenance.
